Gamecocks Set for Garnet & Black Match

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina volleyball team will have the opportunity to play in front of Gamecock fans for the first time in 2014 on Saturday in its annual Garnet and Black Match.

The scrimmage is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the Volleyball Competition Facility. Doors will open to the public at 2, and admission to the event is free. A meet and greet with the team will be held after the match, allowing fans to get autographs and pictures.

South Carolina head coach Scott Swanson, who enters his fourth year at the helm of the program, has announced the rosters for the first set of the match.

Freshman Allie Monserez (setter), junior Sarah Blomgren (RS), sophomore KoKo Atoa-Williams (OH), senior Caroline Cann (OH), sophomore Katlyn McDaniel (MB), junior Darian Dozier (MB), sophomore Megan Kirkland (DS/libero), sophomore Jordan Wilson-Talmadge (DS), freshman Courtney McKeag (OH/MB), sophomore Abby Feruck (MB/RS) and redshirt freshman Erin Neuenfeldt (OH/DS) make up the Garnet roster. Junior Kellie McNeil (setter), former Gamecock All-American and current volunteer assistant Shonda Cole, freshman Taylr McNeil (OH), sophomore Dessaa Legros (OH), junior Elizabeth Johnbull (MB), sophomore Jacqy Angermiller (MB), senior Mikaela Christiaansen (libero) and sophomore Helen Récaborde (setter) will play for the Black team in the first set. Teams will change from set to set.

The Gamecocks will open their 2014 season by hosting the Gamecock Invitational Aug. 29-30. Season tickets for South Carolina’s 15 home dates are now on sale. Anyone who purchases a season ticket during the Garnet and Black Match will be given a replica Under Armour mini volleyball.

With ongoing construction near the Volleyball Competition Facility, parking on match day has changed for the 2014 season. For a match-day parking map, click HERE.

Fan Parking: Fans can park in the AD3 lot (enter from Devine Street), AD1 lot (enter from Park Street, located next to Strom Thurmond Wellness Center) and the Horizon Garage (paid parking $1/hr, max $3/day). The N2 lot located next to the upper level of the Volleyball Competition Facility will open to the public 30 minutes prior to matches at 6 and 7 p.m.

Handicap/Staff Parking: The N2 lot located next to the upper level of the Volleyball Competition Facility will be designated as handicap parking and parking for match staff. It will not be available during regular class hours. The lot will open to the public 30 minutes prior to matches at 6 and 7 p.m.
