The Tommy Suggs Endowed Quarterback Scholarship has been awarded to quarterback Dylan Thompson. Thompson is a senior Sport and Entertainment Management major from Boiling Springs, SC. Head football coach Steve Spurrier selected Thompson to receive this award based on his exemplary performance and leadership on and off the field.

The scholarship was established in recognition of Tommy Suggs (’71), former Gamecock quarterback and long-time radio color commentator for South Carolina Football. Presently, Suggs is chair of the Athletics’ Garnet Way Campaign and is also a member of the Carolina’s Promise Campaign Committee. He currently serves as President and CEO of KeenanSuggs Insurance in Columbia, SC.

This is the first endowed scholarship for a named position on the South Carolina Football team. To date, more than 150 donors have contributed over $400,000 to fund the scholarship.
