Fry Named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week

Sept. 8, 2014

University of South Carolina sophomore placekicker Elliott Fry has been selected as the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the Gamecocks’ 33-23 win over East Carolina on Saturday.

Fry, a 6-0, 165-pounder from Frisco, Texas, was successful on all four of his field goal attempts and was 3-for-3 on extra points, accounting for 15 of the Gamecocks’ 33 points in the win over ECU. He hit from 39 and 42 yards out in the first half, nailed a 26-yarder in the third quarter, then sealed the win with a 20-yard attempt with 1:30 left in the contest.

Last season, Fry was named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts against Missouri and was the SEC Freshman of the Week following his performance against Florida. Following the season, he was recognized on the SEC All-Freshman team.

Fry and the No. 24/23 Gamecocks (1-1, 0-1 SEC) will host the No. 6/6 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, September 13. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. and the contest will be televised nationally on CBS with Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson in the booth and Allie LaForce on the sidelines.
