COLUMBIA, S.C. – Senior offensive tackle Corey Robinson has been selected as the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for his efforts in South Carolina’s 38-35 win over No. 6 Georgia on Saturday, it was announced today.
Robinson, a 6-8, 344-pounder from Havelock, N.C., was instrumental in the Gamecocks’ generating 447 yards of offense against the Bulldogs, including 176 on the ground and 271 through the air. The fifth-year senior graded out at 86 percent while giving up no pressures or sacks. He recorded 11 knockdown blocks including three pancakes. When the Gamecocks needed to ground out yards late in the game, most of the plays went to the left side, manned by Robinson and senior All-America guard A.J. Cann.
Robinson becomes the second Gamecock to earn SEC weekly honors this season, joining placekicker Elliott Fry, who was recognized for his efforts against East Carolina.
Robinson, Fry and the rest of the No. 14/16 Gamecocks (2-1, 1-1 SEC) will travel to Nashville this weekend to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores (1-2, 0-1 SEC) in an SEC Eastern Division matchup. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and the contest will be televised nationally on the SEC Network with Brent Musburger and Jesse Palmer in the booth and Maria Taylor on the sidelines.
