CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Senior Meghan Blevins from the South Carolina women’s tennis team advanced to the singles championship of the Blue Flight at the UVa Fall Invite on Saturday at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va. She will face Northwestern’s Lok Sze Leung for the championship Sunday.
Blevins began the day with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory over Nastassia Rubel from Arkansas in the quarterfinals and followed with an equally impressive 6-3, 6-0 victory against Kristina Hovsepyan from Maryland in the semifinals. Blevins owns the team’s top singles record this fall with an 8-1 mark following her undefeated record in Charlottesville on Saturday.
In the Orange Singles flight, Caroline Dailey defeated Manon Peri from Northwestern in a consolation quarterfinal match 6-7, 6-2, 6-1. She lost in straight sets to Brooke Rischbieth, also of Northwestern, in her next match. Brigit Folland lost a pair of matches in the flight to opponents from Arkansas and Marshall.
Natalie Looney played just one match on the day and suffered a 6-4, 7-5 loss to Rheeya Doshi from Northwestern in the Blue Flight backdraw.
Play wraps up with one round of singles and one round of doubles on Sunday.
