COLUMBIA, S.C. — Ten members of the South Carolina women’s tennis team will compete in the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C., beginning Thursday and ending Monday.
Representing the Gamecocks in Chapel Hill are Hadley Berg, Meghan Blevins, Megen Cochran, Caroline Dailey, Brigit Folland, Katie Fosnacht, Elixane Lechemia, Natalie Looney, Alex Martin and Ximena Siles Luna.
The tournament begins Thursday with qualifying singles and main draw doubles. Looney will take on Lisa Grosselius of Charlotte in the qualifying singles, while Martin takes on Amy Ellis from UNC Greensboro in the first round. Siles Luna faces Taylor Casey from Elon in the first round as well.
Blevins, Looney, Dailey and Folland enter the tournament on the heels of the UVa Fall Invite last weekend in Charlottesville, Va. Blevins posted a 4-0 record in singles en route to winning the Blue Flight singles title. She teamed with Folland in the Orange Flight for doubles and posted a third-place finish with a 2-1 mark.
Blevins leads the Gamecocks thus far in singles victories with an impressive 9-1 record. She owns one of the top marks in doubles as well at 7-2 this fall. Folland has the most victories with an 8-1 record in doubles, and Cochran remains unbeaten with a 6-0 slate.
