The South Carolina women’s swimming and diving team is set to open the Gamecocks’ home slate on Friday, as they host Florida Gulf Coast at Carolina Natatorium. The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m. and admission is free.

It’s A First
This marks the first ever meeting between the Gamecocks and the Eagles.
So Far This Season
The Gamecock women are 2-1 on the season after dropping their season-opener at Kentucky and picking up a pair of wins over Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. The men’s team posted a dominant 115-point victory over the Wildcats to open the season but fell to the Yellow Jackets the following week.
Scouting FGCU
Florida Gulf Coast finished 32nd at last year’s NCAA Championships and return a pair of All-Americans in Emma Svensson and Kira Toussaint. After opening their season with a third-place finish at the Florida Invite, the eagles defeated both Incarnate Word and Miami.
Freshmen in the Fast Lane
Through two meets the freshmen class has already posted a combined 12 individual wins. Meredith Vay is currently undefeated in the 100 freestyle and has recoded a team-best time in all three of her events (50, 100 and 200 freestyle). On the men’s side, Nils Wich-Glasen remains undefeated, as he’s posted a combined five wins in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and 200 IM. Wich-Glasen also leads the team in all three of those events.

Julia Vincent’s thee-meter diving score of 348.30, which she posted against Georgia Tech and Notre Dame, currently ranks first in the SEC.
Looking Ahead
The Gamecocks will wrap up their fall season at home, hosting East Carolina and College of Charleston at Carolina Natatorium on Friday, Nov. 8 set to begin at noon.
