Cooper Added to Biletnikoff Watch List
Nov. 6, 2014
University of South Carolina sophomore wide receiver Pharoh Cooper has been added to the 2014 Biletnikoff Award Watch List, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced today.
Anyone who catches a pass, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back or running back) is eligible to win the Biletnikoff Award, founded in 1994.
Cooper, a 5-11, 201-pounder from Havelock, N.C., is second in the SEC in both receptions per game (5.7) and receiving yards per game (87.3). He had one of the best games in school history when he caught a career-high 11 passes for a school record 233 yards and two touchdowns against Tennessee. Included was an 85-yard scoring reception. Cooper accounted for four touchdowns in the game, as he also passed for one and rushed for one, becoming the first Gamecock since Connor Shaw in the 2014 Capital One Bowl to have a touchdown rushing, passing and receiving in a single game.
The 2014 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on December 11, 2014, by college and pro football hall of famer Fred Biletnikoff on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show to be broadcast from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on ESPN.
The 2014 Biletnikoff Award winner will receive the Biletnikoff Award Trophy, the most beautiful in college sports, before 600 patrons at the annual black-tie Biletnikoff Award Banquet at the University Center Club at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Saturday, February 7, 2015. The banquet will be live streamed on ESPN3, as it was in 2013 and 2014.
