South Carolina Head Coach Frank Martin
Opening Statement
Good win for us. The more I watched UNC Asheville on film, the more concerned I got. They’ve got a great system there. I told their coach before the game, `wow you guys are a lot of fun to watch,’ not fun when you have to play them. We played with unbelievable aggression on both ends. I’m really proud of our guys. If we had been playing better leading into this game, I think we would have played better offensively in the first half. As crazy as this sounds, I think we played great defensively. We had some breakdowns in situations that we have to get better at. But as far as our understanding of what we’re trying to do, I think we played pretty well defensively.

On how easy it is to play an offensive team like UNC Asheville
It’s not easy at all. With a team like that, it’s easy for them to get hot out of nowhere. Their leading scorer averages 25, and he’s capable of going for 40 a night. They are definitely a test and a challenge. I think we did pretty well tonight facing that challenge.

Sophomore forward Laimonas Chatkevicius
On his expectations for tonight
I wasn’t expecting anything tonight. After two losses, the whole team was just trying to get out there and do their best. Tonight it just happened to be me in the right spot.

UNC Asheville Head Coach Nick McDevitt
Thoughts on the game
You have got to credit South Carolina; they played well. They just got a lot of big athletes that play up on the rim, they blocked a lot of our shots and owned the play in the paint. Points in the paint, they beat us by 22. Looking at the rebound margin, we did an okay job with them there. But I thought that they just had good athletes that made big plays. Every time we seemed to make a run they made a big 3. We were making a run there in the second half and their 7-footer makes a 3. So, it just seemed like every time we were ready to make a push they made plays when the game was on the line.
