COLUMBIA, S.C. – Sophomore wide receiver Pharoh Cooper’s breakout season was rewarded in a big way Monday afternoon, as he was named to the Associated Press’ All-SEC first team as a wide receiver and second team as an all-purpose back. Senior offensive lineman A.J. Cann made the second team, the first postseason honor from the AP for the four-year starter.

Cooper, a native of Havelock, N.C., led the team with 966 yards and eight touchdowns receiving, but would contribute so much more than just as a receiver. He rushed for 198 yards on 24 carries, adding two more touchdowns, and even completed 5-of-8 pass attempts for two passing touchdowns out of the wildcat formation for the season. He ranked second in the SEC in receiving yards and fourth in receiving touchdowns.

He garnered national attention after a game against Tennessee where he did it all, setting the school record for receiving yards in a game with 233 against the Volunteers. He also threw a touchdown pass, ran for an 11-yard touchdown and caught two touchdown passes.

After his career day against Tennessee, Cooper was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll and was recognized as the College Football Performance Awards national Wide Receiver of the Week. Just four days later, he was also added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List.

A.J. Cann will finish his career in the Garnet and Black with the second-most starts in program history, currently standing at 50. He started all 12 games at left guard so far this season, and captained an offense that has averaged over 450 yards and 33 points per game. The two-time captain will end his career with Carolina with starts in all but one game over the last four seasons.
