Head Coach Chad Holbrook
Opening Statement

Congratulations to Ole Miss. They obviously have a very, very good team. They’re older like I said and have some experienced guys in there, and their best player got the biggest swing of the game. You have to tip your cap to them. I was, for the most part, pleased with our team. We had some good at bats there. We had 10 hits against a really good pitcher and we battled. They only punched us out twice, I believe. We battled and we competed. We just couldn’t really get that big hit out there when we needed it. I think we had bases loaded in the first there and then maybe again in the second or third, the innings are running together on me, but I know we had them there, the bases loaded a couple times. We felt very comfortable with the hitters we had up in that spot. We just couldn’t get a big hit. I knew the four runs against that type of offensive team, I didn’t feel good about that being enough. As good as we’ve pitched all year, I didn’t feel good that four runs was going to hold up. Ultimately, I was right on that deal. But we’ve got to pick ourselves up off the mat in this league and we’ve got 18 innings tomorrow against a really good Ole Miss team and we’ll find out a lot about our team tomorrow in the way we respond.

Junior left-hander Jordan Montgomery
On the grand slam…
I mean it’s just baseball, one pitch, I didn’t hit my spot or I missed my spot. They took advantage of it so that’s why we love the game, hate the game, so can’t really do much about it, just try and focus more on the next bat, next time.

On any talk about leaving the game in the sixth…
I knew that they were going to keep me in there. Coach trusts me. I’d been getting outs pretty fine, so I just tried to get one more out and I missed my spot.
