FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. – A new personal best for Ncincilili Titi highlighted the final day of the Tyson Invitational. The South African sprinter ran the sixth-fastest time in the 200m to post the team’s top finish of the day, fifth place. LeAnna Morrison also finished in the top ten of her event for Carolina.

Titi finished fifth among 56 runners in the event, and his time of 21.03 moves him past Marcus Robinson’s time of 21.14 set back in 1996. It’s the fastest time by any Gamecock in the event since 2008. In the other running event for the men, the 4×400 relay team of Clayton Gravesande, Ryan Bermudez, Dondre Echols and Jermaine Collier finished 12th but set a new season best by almost two full seconds.

In the field events, Michael Wamer hit his second-longest triple jump of the season to finish 15th, Tyjon Williams finished 16th in the high jump and Josh Awotunde took 12th in the shot put.

Tyler Brockington came just a few tenths of a second from entering the top ten of the women’s 200m, but set a new season best for the team and a new personal best. She would finish 15th overall in the event.

Competing in the triple jump invitational, Morrison would record a mark of 12.65 meters. It was her fourth-best jump of the season and was good for eighth place. In the other triple jump competition, Natasha Dicks finished 11th and came just inches from setting a new personal best with a jump of 12.53 meters.

The team will return home next weekend for the Gamecock Invitational. It will be the final competition held at the indoor facility, as the team prepares for its new facilities coming next season. The one-day event begins Saturday morning.
