COLUMBIA, S.C. – Freshman swimmer Meredith Vay, senior diver Patricia Kranz and freshman diver Julia Vincent are set to represent the Gamecocks at the Women’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

HOW THEY GOT HERE
Vay officially qualified for the Championships in the 200 freestyle (1:45.94). She will also swim in the 50 and 100 freestyle. She set the school record in the in the 100 freestyle with her time of 49.16 in the finals at the SEC Championships. She also ranks in the top three in school history in both the 50 and 200 freestyle.

Kranz qualified for the Championships with a seventh-place finish on the one-meter springboard at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships. She will also compete on the three-meter springboard. Kranz owns the school record for platform diving (5 dives).

Vincent won the three-meter springboard competition at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships with her school-record score of 722.70. She also qualified on the one-meter, finishing in third place with a score of 604.85, also a school record.

HISTORY AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Three Gamecocks is the most to compete at the NCAA Championships since Courtney Forcucci, Amanda Rutqvist and Rachel Schaffer in 2012. South Carolina has now sent at least one student-athlete to 14 straight NCAA Championships and 30 overall. Carolina’s best finish was a 10th-place showing at the 1989 national championships. The Gamecocks have produced six top-25 finishes since joining the SEC in 1992, including an 11th-place finish in 2004. Former Gamecock diver Allison Brennan is the only Carolina individual national champion as she won the one-meter title in 2004.
