PINEHURST, N.C. – South Carolina rising sophomore Keenan Huskey carded a final-round 73 (+3) on Wednesday at Pinehurst No. 2 to finish the stroke play portion of the North and South Amateur in a tie for fifth.

Huskey turned in a 54-hole total of 218 (+8) to earn one of 16 spots in match play, which begins Thursday. George Cunningham claimed medalist honors with a total of 212 (+2).

A native of Greenville, S.C., Huskey will face Henry Do in the opening round of match play on Thursday at 7:40 a.m.

Gamecock rising junior Ben Dietrich also played at the event and finished tied for 73rd with a total of 236.

FORMER GAMECOCK KOK QUALIFIES FOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP
At Philadelphia, Pa., former South Carolina men’s golfer Johan Kok (1998-2002) will make his second-straight PGA Championship appearance after finishing tied for 10th at the PGA Professional National Championship at the Philadelphia Cricket Club on Wednesday.

Kok was one of 20 golfers to qualify after finishing the event with a 72-hole total of 284 (+2). He qualified for last year’s PGA Championship by finishing tied for eighth at the PGA Professional National Championship.

The 97th PGA Championship will be held Aug. 13-16 at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis.
