COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina baseball team will have six Gamecocks participating in the 2015 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game as announced by the league on Friday. Alex Destino, Clark Scolamiero, Madison Stokes, Matthew Vogel, Taylor Widener and Jared Williams will participate in the contest. This year’s game is scheduled for Florence, S.C. on Monday July 13 at Sparrow Stadium.

In addition to the All-Star game, the Florence RedWolves and Coastal Plain League will host a fan fest with live entertainment and home run derby on the night of Sunday July 12. Home Run Derby contestants will be announced early next week. The East versus West All-Star Game will take place the following night, Monday July 13.

Destino (Wilmington Sharks), Scolamiero (Wilson Tobs) and Vogel (Wilmington Sharks) will represent the East with Stokes (Lexington County Blowfish), Widener (Lexington County Blowfish) and Williams (Lexington County Blowfish) representing the West.

Alex Destino (Wilmington Sharks ââ’¬” Coastal Plain League)
Destino is batting .295 (28-for-95) with 12 runs scored, five doubles, a triple, three homers and 23 RBI in 22 games played. He has also pitched 1.1 scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts.

Clark Scolamiero (Wilson Tobs ââ’¬” Coastal Plain League)
Scolamiero is hitting .272 (28-for-103) with 20 runs scored, three doubles and eight RBI. He leads the Tobs with 11 stolen bases.

Madison Stokes (Lexington County Blowfish ââ’¬” Coastal Plain League)
Stokes is batting .312 (34-for-109) in 29 games played with 28 starts. Stokes has scored 15 runs, tallied 18 RBI and has four doubles and two triples. He also has stolen eight bases.

Matthew Vogel (Wilmington Sharks ââ’¬” Coastal Plain League)
Vogel has not allowed an earned run in nine relief appearances and has notched three saves. Vogel has allowed just five hits in 11.0 innings with six walks and 20 strikeouts. Opponents are batting .122 against him.

Taylor Widener (Lexington County Blowfish ââ’¬” Coastal Plain League)
Widener is 1-2 with a 2.53 ERA in six starts with the Blowfish. Widener has allowed 16 runs, nine earned, on 29 hits with seven walks and 43 strikeouts in 32.0 innings of work. Opponents are batting .236 against him. Widener’s 43 strikeouts ranks third in the Coastal Plain League.

Jared Williams (Lexington County Blowfish ââ’¬” Coastal Plain League)
Williams is hitting .321 (36-for-112) with 24 runs scored and 14 RBI. He leads the Blowfish with nine stolen bases. He also has four doubles and a triple.
