On Wednesday, July 15, 2015, the beautification process going on outside of Williams-Brice Stadium reached an important milestone. Inside the soon-to-be Springs Brooks Plaza at the intersection of Bluff Road and George Rogers Boulevard, construction workers began laying down the customized bricks that many Gamecock fans have been waiting months for.
In August of 2014, the Gamecock Club announced a Commemorative Brick Program that allowed Gamecock Club members and fans alike to purchase a limited number of bricks that could hold 1-3 lines of personalized text. Nearly a year later, the first brick went into the sand.
“With the engraved bricks actually being installed and put into the ground, it kind of brings everything full circle with the entire brick campaign,” said Jay Brown, Assistant Director of the Gamecock Club. “It gives our fans an opportunity to literally lay the foundation for this plaza. So it’s a cool moment and it took a lot of hard work from a lot of people.”
