Video: Pigskin Poets Feature

South Carolina football student-athletes put down the playbooks and picked up children’s books as part of the annual Pigskin Poets community service program on Friday in conjunction with the Richland Library. Due to construction at the library, this year’s event was held at South Carolina’s Volleyball Competition Center where the Gamecocks read books to the eager youngsters and later signed autographs.

Several hundred elementary school children attended the 18th annual event which emphasizes the importance of summer reading and setting and achieving goals. Thousands of area children participate in the library’s summer reading program each year.
