EIGHT IS GREAT
The Gamecocks moved up three spots to No. 8 in the latest NSCAA rankings. South Carolina remains No. 12 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll.

SCOUTING CLEMSON
The No. 23 Tigers defeated College of Charleston 2-0 in their season opener. Junior goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan was named Preseason All-ACC; she’s 1-0 on the year after playing all 90 minutes in Clemson’s first match.

SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
Picked to finish third in the Big South this year, the Chanticleers are 1-1-0 after opening 2015 with a 2-1 win over Wofford and falling 4-1 to Charlotte. Coastal Carolina hosts Georgia Southern on Friday before heading to Columbia for Sunday’s match. Seventeen players return from last season’s 11-win squad, including a trio of all-conference selections in Amber Adams, Sam Patterson and Daniela Famili.

LEADING THE PACK
Junior midfielder Chelsea Drennan leads the Gamecocks this season with four points after scoring a goal and adding a pair of assists in the 4-1 win over Northeastern.

THE FAST LANE
Sophomore midfielder Lindsey Lane netted the game winner in the Gamecocks’ double overtime victory over Oklahoma. All three of Lane’s career goals have been game winners.

GRAY FOR THE WIN
Senior defender Caroline Gray secured South Carolina’s win in the season opener, scoring her first career goal against Northeastern.

FRESHMEN CONTRIBUTE
The Gamecock freshmen are off to a great start as Courtney Kaplan scored the first goal against Oklahoma, Simone Wark recorded an assist in the win over Northeastern and Carrie Lawrence earned a start in the season opener.

UP NEXT
South Carolina hosts Colgate on Fri., Sept. 4 before heading to Charlotte, N.C. on Mon., Sept. 7 to take on the 49ers.
