COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina women’s soccer team hosts Colgate on Fri., Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. before hitting the road to face the 49ers in Charlotte, N.C. on Mon., Sept. 7. The Gamecocks are 3-1-0 after suffering their first loss of the season, falling 2-1 at Clemson but bouncing back with a 3-2 win over Coastal Carolina at Stone Stadium last weekend.

South Carolina holds a 66-31 shot advantage over opponents through four games. The Gamecocks have put 32 of 66 shots on goal, compared to opponents getting just 10 goals on target.
South Carolina is one of five SEC schools to record double-digit goals this season. The Gamecocks rank fifth in the conference in points (30), goals (10), goals per game (2.50) and fourth in assists (10).
SCOUTING COLGATE
The Raiders are 1-3 on the year after defeating Albany 2-0 and falling to St. Johns 1-0 this past weekend. Senior goalkeeper Erin Cummings has played all 360 minutes, allowed eight goals and recorded 23 saves. Colgate returns nine starters and 22 letterwinners from last year’s team that posted a 14-3-2 record and is predicted to finish second in the Patriot League.
SCOUTING CHARLOTTE
The 49ers return seven starters and 17 letterwinners from last year’s squad that posted an 8-8-2 record. Charlotte is 2-1 on the season after defeating Coastal Carolina and Georgia Sothern, 4-1 and 4-3, respectively, and falling at 2-1 at Mercer.
MCCASKILL IN THE LEAD
Savannah McCaskill leads South Carolina with six points and 13 shots. The sophomore has tallied two goals and two assists through four games.
ASSISTED BY DRENNAN
Junior Chelsea Drennan has recorded three assists this season, giving her 22 throughout her Gamecock career. She currently ranks third all-time in career assists and is just two shy of claiming second. Drennan’s three assists currently rank second in the SEC.
TWO FOR GROFF
Sophie Groff accounted for two of South Carolina’s three goals, including the game-winner against Coastal Carolina.

Junior Kaleigh Kurtz scored her first career goal in the Gamecocks’ 3-2 win over Coastal Carolina.
THE FAST LANE
Sophomore midfielder Lindsey Lane netted the game winner in the Gamecocks’ double overtime victory over Oklahoma. All three of Lane’s career goals have been game- winners.
GRAY FOR THE WIN
Senior defender Caroline Gray secured South Carolina’s win in the season opener, scoring her first career goal against Northeastern.
FRESHMEN CONTRIBUTE
The Gamecock freshmen are off to a great start as Courtney Kaplan scored the first goal against Oklahoma, Simone Wark recorded an assist in the win over Northeastern and Carrie Lawrence earned a start in the season opener.
UP NEXT
The Gamecocks travel to Athens, Ga. on Fri., Sept. 11 to open SEC play against the Bulldogs before returning home to Stone Stadium on Mon., Sept. 14 to host Kennesaw State.
