Skai Moore Named SEC Defensive Player of the Week
Sept. 7, 2015
University of South Carolina junior linebacker Skai Moore was selected as the Southeastern Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced today.
Moore, a 6-2, 218-pounder from Cooper City, Fla., led the team with 10 tackles and came up with a pair of interceptions, both in the end zone, preserving the Gamecocks’ 17-13 win over North Carolina.
The Tar Heels marched down the field on their opening drive, moving 58 yards in six plays before Moore intercepted a pass in the end zone on a 3rd-and-goal play from the 7-yard line. Then with just a little over three minutes left in the contest, Moore again picked off a pass in the end zone, this time on a 4th-and-goal from the 8. The Gamecocks were able to run out the clock and secure the victory.
Moore now has nine interceptions in his career.
Moore and the Gamecocks will host the Kentucky Wildcats in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday, September 12. The game will be televised on the SEC Network with Brent Musburger, Jesse Palmer and Maria Taylor serving as the talent for the contest.
