COLUMBIA, S.C. – Day Two of the South Carolina Fall Invitational is in the books, and South Carolina women’s tennis received a strong showing from its top-six players on Saturday at the USC Field House. The Gamecocks posted a perfect 6-0 mark in singles matches against William & Mary and were 9-3 overall on the day.

“Overall a much better day today,” head coach Kevin Epley said. “I wasn’t pleased with our mentality yesterday, but I felt like we really picked it up today. Doubles was good too. I think the story of the day was (Paige) Cline and (Hadley) Berg turning things around.”

Sophomore Hadley Berg, who was 5-0 entering the weekend, dropped her opening match of the event to Oklahoma’s Simran Sethi on Friday morning. She rebounded on Saturday, posting a 6-3, 6-1 win over Olivia Thaler of William & Mary, moving to 2-1 on the weekend. Freshman Paige Cline also fell in her first match on Friday, but responded on Day Two with a decisive 6-0, 6-1 win over Cecily Wuenscher of William & Mary.

Junior Brigit Folland recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win against William & Mary’s Olivia Thaler, while a trio of freshmen also claimed victories. The Gamecocks lost only one set during the matchup.

Carolina battled North Florida in doubles, coming out on top in all three matches. Freshmen Allison Mills and Hannah Templeton also got work throughout the day, dropping singles matches against North Florida and a doubles match with William & Mary.

Day Three of the event is set to start at 9 a.m. at the USC Field House. South Carolina is scheduled for singles matches against North Florida following singles play between participants from Oklahoma, Arkansas and North Florida.
