COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina’s softball team earned a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Academic Team listing, with the cumulative 3.442 grade point average ranking 21st in NCAA Division I for 2014-15, according to the organization.

The Gamecocks, who made their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament under head coach Beverly Smith, saw 19 of the 22 students on the 2015 roster earn SEC Academic Honor Roll spots, 14 in the spring and five more on the first-year list. In addition, 13 of those gained NFCA Scholar-Athlete recognition in a release from earlier this month.

South Carolina has two fall exhibition dates left to play, the first coming this Sunday afternoon at home against Charleston Southern. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. for the doubleheader against the Buccaneers.
