University of South Carolina junior placekicker Elliott Fry is one of three players recognized as “Stars of the Week” according to the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Collegiate Placekicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl.

Fry moved into a tie for second place in FBS for field goals made when he kicked four to help the Gamecocks defeat Vanderbilt 19-10 in Columbia on Saturday. The junior from Frisco, Texas had makes of 47, 31, 19 and 22 and made the extra point following South Carolina’s lone touchdown of the game. Fry has scored 261 career points which makes him second all-time in South Carolina career scoring. He now has a 4-FG game in each of his three seasons. Fry is 15-for-21 on the season in field goals and 12-for-12 on extra points.

Others recognized this week include Auburn’s Daniel Carlson and Idaho’s Austin Rehkow.

The Lou Groza Award will be presented as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards in Atlanta, Ga. on Thursday, December 10. The three finalists will be honored at the 24th Annual Lou Groza Awards Banquet on Monday, December 7, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
