ATHENS, Ga. — Juniors Alex Fennell and Sam Swank kicked off Day One at the Bulldog Scramble, going 3-1 in singles play.

Fennell defeated his first opponent of the day, Andy Zhou of Harvard, 7-5, 6-1. He continued his strong play in the afternoon session with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Eric Schnurrenberger from Notre Dame. The transfer from Penn State is now 9-3 in his first fall as a Gamecock.

Swank dropped a tight 6-4, 6-3 match to Andrew Li of Georgia Tech to start the day, but rebounded with an impressive 6-2, 6-2 win over Xavier Gonzalez of Harvard, bringing his fall record to 11-5.
