Shawn Elliott has been retained as the offensive line coach and Jeff Dillman has been named Director of Football Strength & Conditioning, University of South Carolina head football coach Will Muschamp announced today.

Elliott and Dillman are the latest official additions to Muschamp’s staff that also includes defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson and running backs coach Bobby Bentley.

Elliott has spent the past six years as the Gamecocks’ offensive line coach under head coach Steve Spurrier. The Camden, S.C. native and Appalachian State graduate has also served as the running game coordinator, co-offensive coordinator and interim head coach during his time in Columbia.

“I am pleased to keep Shawn on the staff,” said Coach Muschamp. “He loves the University of South Carolina and has done a fantastic job here.”

Dillman joins the Gamecocks after spending one season as an assistant strength & conditioning coach at Alabama. Prior to that, he worked on Coach Muschamp’s staff at the University of Florida as the Director of Strength & Conditioning.

“I am very familiar with Jeff, as he and I worked together for three years at Florida,” said Coach Muschamp. “He also did an outstanding job at Alabama this past season under Coach Saban.”

Prior to his arrival in Gainesville, Dillman worked at the IMG Performance Institute in Bradenton, Fla. As the Head of Physical Conditioning at IMG Academies, Dillman oversaw the strength and conditioning programs for all youth, adult, collegiate and professional athletes who trained at the Academy, including NBA and NFL offseason workouts, NFL Combine training and the Madden Football Academy.

Dillman’s professional career began as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at UL-Monroe beginning in 2001, working with nine different teams over his tenure with the Warhawks.

In 2003, he was hired as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at LSU and helped the Tigers to several notable achievements, including an SEC and BCS National Championship for the football team, Final Four appearances for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams and a College World Series trip for the baseball team. He also worked with men’s and women’s tennis and gymnastics.

In 2006, Dillman took over the strength and conditioning program at his alma mater, Appalachian State. He helped the football program to two-straight Division I-AA national championships (2006-07) and the historic upset of No. 5-ranked Michigan in 2007.

A native of Rockingham, N.C., Dillman was a football letterman at Elon College before he transferred to Appalachian State University, where he completed his football eligibility. He earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.

Dillman is a member of the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association and the American Football Coaches Association.
