SEA ISLAND, Ga. — Matt NeSmith led a group of four University of South Carolina men’s golfers as the quartet completed the second round of the Jones Cup Invitational on Saturday at Ocean Forest Golf Club. NeSmith shot a round of 73 (+1) on Saturday and is just three shots off the pace, in a three-way tie for fourth with one round remaining.

NeSmith’s two-day score of 147 (+3) is three strokes back of a three-way tie for the tournament lead with 18 holes to play. The South Carolina senior carded two birdies Saturday and finished his round with 11 straight pars.

Carolina’s Will Starke is tied for 18th with a two-day score of seven-over 151. He shot a 79 (+7) on Saturday.

Freshman Scott Stevens shot a five-over 77 on Saturday and now has a two-day score of 153 (+9). He is tied for 28th after two rounds.

Keenan Huskey rounds out the Gamecocks in Sea Island, as he is tied for 71st with one round to play. Huskey shot an 85 (+13) on Saturday and has a two-round score of 162 (+18).

The four Gamecocks have one more round remaining in Sea Island, scheduled for Sunday afternoon. The full Carolina team opens the spring season Feb. 19-21 at the All-American Intercollegiate in Humble, Texas.
