COLUMBIA, S.C. ââ’¬” On the heels of a dramatic victory over then No. 21 Clemson on Saturday, South Carolina women’s tennis jumped 20 spots to No. 17 in this week’s Oracle/ITA Rankings. The ranking is the highest since 2010 for South Carolina, which topped out at No. 15 that season. The Gamecocks are 7-2 this spring, boasting a pair of top-25 wins in the non-conference portion of the schedule for the first time in over 20 years.

Junior Caroline Dailey received her first ranking of the spring, coming in at No. 71. The Florida native posted a straight-set win over the 11th-ranked player in the nation Saturday, the program’s highest ranked singles win since 2009.

Also in the rankings are freshmen Paige Cline (No. 108) and Ingrid Gamarra Martins (No. 118). Cline has played exclusively at No. 1 in the lineup, accumulating an impressive 3-3 record. Gamarra Martins is 7-3 this spring and leads the team with 16 singles wins overall.

The Gamecocks battle No. 27 Wake Forest on Sunday in Winston-Salem, N.C., their final non-conference match before opening SEC play on March 3 against Missouri at the Carolina Tennis Center.
