COLUMBIA, S.C. – Midfielder Campbell Gibson (Glasgow, Scotland) will join the Gamecock men’s soccer program this fall, as he signed a National Letter of Intent during the spring signing period.

Twice, he competed in international tournaments, traveling to Spain and Denmark. Gibson has also played rugby, helping his school to the Scottish plate final. He enjoys playing golf in the summers as well.

“We are very excited to add Campbell to our incoming class,” remarked head coach Mark Berson. “He is a player that we think will adapt to the college game very quickly, and we look forward to him helping us in midfield. He is very intelligent and hardworking both on and off the field and couldn’t be a better fit for the things we emphasize within our program. After getting the chance to spend time with him and his entire family, we couldn’t be more excited to have them joining us this coming fall.”

Gibson joins fellow freshmen Evan Collins and Jeffrey Lu and transfer Christoffer Wallander-Ianev as the newcomers for head coach Mark Berson’s squad in 2016. Wallander-Ianev joined the team in January and has gone through spring training with the Gamecocks.

South Carolina made its 21st NCAA Tournament in 2015, advancing into the second round of the event.
