COLUMBIA, S.C. – Gamecock junior first baseman Kaylea Snaer garnered selection onto the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 4 team, the organization released today.

Snaer leads NCAA Division I in doubles, breaking both South Carolina’s and the Southeastern Conference’s single-season marks with 24 so far this season. The Rowland Heights, Calif., product leads the Gamecocks with a .376 batting average and .624 slugging percentage and ranks second on the team with five homers and 37 RBI. Five times, Snaer has doubled twice in a game this season, and she had a nine-game hitting streak in which she posted two or more hits in each game.

A 2014 SEC All-Freshman Team selection, Snaer has twice made the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete lists. She’s the 17th Gamecock to earn such distinction, joining teammate Victoria Williams, who made last year’s release.

To qualify for nomination, a student must have completed one calendar year on campus, have a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average or higher and be a starter or major contributor to the team. Those winners from the eight districts move onto the national ballot, which will be released later this month.

South Carolina (34-18, 6-15 SEC) closes the 2016 regular season this weekend at No. 16/14 Missouri (37-12, 12-9 SEC), with all three games showing on the WatchESPN app. Saturday’s contest, set for 3 PM EDT, airs on ESPNU, while Sunday’s finale will be a part of the SEC Network’s Bases Loaded whiparound coverage.
