AUSTIN, Texas – University of South Carolina women’s diver Lauren Lamendola was honored with a spot on the CoSIDA Women’s At-Large Academic All-America Third Team, it was announced today. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native recently wrapped up an All-America career on the boards and now adds an Academic All-America honor to her trophy case.

A senior in 2015-16, Lamendola is coming off the most successful season of her four years at South Carolina. She qualified for two A finals at the SEC Championships, finishing fourth in the 1-meter and sixth in 3-meter. Later, she advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career and earned an All-America finish in the 1-meter dive.

Not just a star on the boards, Lamendola was a terrific student, earning Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors for the Gamecock athletic department. She earned CSCAA Scholar All-America honors in each of her first three seasons and is a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll pick.

Lamendola earned a podium spot at the 2015 SEC Championships, finishing third in the 1-meter, and she won nine total competitions during her collegiate career. She is the first Gamecock to win CoSIDA Academic All-America honors since fellow diver Taryn Zack was honored in 2011.

CoSIDA’s Women’s At-Large Academic All-America Teams involve student-athletes from the sports of Beach Volleyball, Bowling, Crew/Rowing, Fencing, Field Hockey, Golf, Gymnastics, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, Rifle, Skiing, Swimming & Diving, Tennis and Water Polo.
