June 16, 2016
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Former Gamecock infielder Codee Yeske ranked as one of 40 on the USA Baseball Women’s National Team Trials roster, as USA Baseball prepares for the World Baseball Softball Confederation Women’s Baseball World Cup in September.
Yeske, a Lexington, S.C., native, played three years for the Gamecocks, hitting .283 with a .442 slugging percentage at South Carolina. The former starter at shortstop and third base for Beverly Smith’s squad is listed as an infielder/pitcher on the trials roster. It’s Yeske’s second time to be a part of the trials, as she also competed last year for a spot on the team that represented the Stars and Stripes and won last year’s Pan American Games.
Trials are set for Aug. 22-25 at Cal State Fullerton, with 20 players moving onto the national team to play in the World Cup, held Sept. 3-11 in Gijan City, South Korea.
South Carolina softball has won 35+ games in each of the past four seasons and advanced into the NCAA Tournament in each of those years.
