Turner Named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina senior midfielder Kurtis Turner was named the Conference-USA Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday. The award is Turner’s first weekly conference accolade of his career.

Turner, who has started all eight matches for the Gamecocks this season, helped lead the team to a 2-0 record last week after scoring three points (1G, 1A) on six shots (2 SOG).

The Sheffield, England native scored the game-winner on the road at No. 18 Furman last Tuesday, as the Gamecocks knocked off the Paladins 3-0. He tallied his second assist of the season Saturday night as Carolina downed Georgia State, 3-1 at home.

In its last two matches, South Carolina has scored six goals by six different players.

The Gamecocks, who will look to extend a four-match win streak, return to action with two home games this week vs. High Point on Wednesday night and C-USA foe Marshall on Sunday night.
