Brett Favre to Highlight Football Coaches' Clinic
March 9, 2017
Head football coach Will Muschamp and University of South Carolina Football will host its annual weekend coaches’ clinic March 16-18 at The Zone in Williams-Brice Stadium. Former NFL standout Brett Favre will be the featured speaker for this year’s event.
Favre, who was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2016, was the first quarterback in NFL history to pass for 500 touchdowns, throw for over 70,000 yards, over 6,000 completions, and over 10,000 pass attempts, while spending the majority of his career with the Green Bay Packers. He made an NFL record 297 consecutive starts (321 including playoffs). He is the only player to win the AP NFL Most Valuable Player Award three consecutive times (1995–97), and is one of only six quarterbacks to have won the award as well as the Super Bowl in the same season. He has led teams to eight division championships (1995, 1996, 1997, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009), five NFC Championship Games (1995, 1996, 1997, 2007, 2009), and two Super Bowl appearances (Super Bowl XXXI, Super Bowl XXXII), winning one (Super Bowl XXXI).
The weekend’s event gets underway on Thursday, March 16, with registration beginning at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and a Chalk Talk session.
The event continues with a full slate of activities on Friday. After breakfast, the coaches will be able to watch the Gamecocks’ spring practice. Lectures will be held throughout the afternoon, featuring state champion high school coaches from four states. Favre will be the featured speaker during Friday night’s session that will also include a Chalk Talk with the Gamecock coaching staff.
The event concludes on Saturday morning following the Gamecocks’ scrimmage at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Cost to attend the clinic is $50 per coach. For more information or to register online, go to GamecockFB.com or call the South Carolina football office at 803-777-4271.
