No. 13 Gamecocks Close Out Home Schedule

COLUMBIA, S.C. — No. 13 South Carolina women’s tennis team returns to action this weekend as they host their final SEC matches of the regular season. The Gamecocks open the weekend’s competition when they face No. 16 Mississippi St. at 5 p.m. Friday, April 7 at the Carolina Tennis Center. The team closes out their home schedule with Sunday’s match against No. 26 Ole Miss at 1 p.m., this match will also serve as an opportunity for the Gamecocks their recognize their senior student-athletes.
South Carolina added a 1-1 record last weekend at home with tightly contested battles. The Gamecocks (14-6, 5-4) dropped a 4-3 battle to No. 12 Auburn but bounced back with strong singles play in the bottom of the lineup for a 4-3 triumph against No. 34 Alabama.
Admission and parking for all home tennis matches is free of charge.
South Carolina Notables
- South Carolina maintained a top-15 ranking in this week’s Oracle/ITA Rankings coming in at No. 13.
- Ingrid Gamarra Martins came in at No. 41 in the singles rankings with freshman Mia Horvit moving into the No. 54 spot.
- The Gamecocks boast two ranked doubles pairs, Hadley Berg and Paige Cline come in at No. 37 up from No. 42, while the duo of Berg and Caroline Dailey make their first appearance in the rankings at No. 57.
- Junior Hadley Berg added a 2-0 record in singles play to stretch her win streak to 16, staying perfect in dual play in the spring.
- Senior Brigit Folland turned a 4-0 record on the weekend, notching straight-set wins in the No. 6 spot in singles play and two impressive performances in doubles play with teammate Martins.

- The Bulldogs are 13-5 overall and 6-4 in conference play, going 2-4 in road matches.
- Miss St. is coming off a two-win weekend at home, taking down Texas A&M, 4-1, and LSU, 6-1.
- Jasmine Lee won this week’s SEC Athlete of the Week honor, taking her ninth ranked singles victory and eighth ranked doubles match.
- Sara Lizariturry was named SEC Freshman of the Week after adding a 4-0 record on the weekend.

- Ranked doubles: Lee and Lisa Marie Rioux (5).

- The Rebels are 13-8 on the season and 3-6 in league play.
- Ole Miss will face No. 1 Florida on Friday, April 7 before facing the Gamecocks on Sunday.
- Ranked singles: Arianne Hartono (40) and Natalie Suk (95).
- Ranked doubles: Hartono and Anna Vrkenska (21) and Hartono and Alexa Bortles (45).
- Mark Beyers has been the head coach of Ole Miss since 2002, notching a 188-171 record at the helm of the women’s tennis team.
