VALENTINE, Neb. — South Carolina closed with its third consecutive under-par round as a team (284, -4) en route to a tied for fourth finish at The Jackrabbit on Tuesday. Scott Stevens, Keenan Huskey and Will Miles all shot 70 (-2) to lead the Gamecocks in the final round.

Stevens, a 2017 Second Team All-SEC selection and PING All-Southeast Region choice, had just one bogey in his final 18 holes as he finished T-3rd, his first top-five in 2017-18 and the fourth of his career. He was 1-over at the turn, and had a bogey free final nine holes with three birdies. Stevens has tallied five consecutive under-par rounds dating back to the second round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate (Sept. 8-10).

Miles, a junior from Hilton Head Island, S.C., led the Gamecocks with six birdies in the final round. He opened with a 2-under 34 on the front nine and shot even par on the backside. Miles is off to a hot start in 2017-18 with four rounds of par or better. He bounced back from a tough first round 76 with a 69 (-3) on Monday and a two-under round today to finish T-39th at 1-under for the tournament.

Sophomores Jamie Wilson and Caleb Proveaux finished T-44th at even par. They each shot 2-over 74s in the final round on Tuesday.

Santa Clara held on for the wire-to-wire win after shooting a final round 285 (-3). The Broncos took a commanding lead after day one with a 23-under opening round of 265. Tennessee made a third round push on Tuesday with the round of the day (281, -7), but the Vols finished three shots back at 36-under par for the tournament.

Hayden Shieh of Santa Clara also went wire-to-wire for the individual win. He carded a final round 70 (-2) to finish 15-under for the tournament.

• Scott Stevens led the field in par-4 scoring average at 3.78 (-8)
• Keenan Huskey was one of just three players in the field with multiple eagles. The Greenville, S.C., native, aced the par-3 seventh on Sunday for his first career in-competition hole-in-one in four seasons as a Gamecock.
• Carolina was fourth in the field with 60 birdies. The Gamecocks were one of just four teams to have under-par scoring averages on each hole length.

UP NEXT

The Gamecocks have a week off before heading back to the midwest to compete in the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate. It’ll mark Carolina’s first ever appearance in the event, which takes place at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. The prestigious Pete Dye course has hosted the PGA Championship, the U.S. Women’s Open, the Solheim Cup, the U.S. Senior Open and the BMW Championship twice.
