Three Gamecocks Compete in Three Meter Finals

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – South Carolina sent three divers to the women’s 3-meter finals at the Tennessee Diving Invitational on Thursday. After placing in the top 12 of the preliminary round, Julia Vincent, Yu Qian Goh and Mikaela Lujan finished second, 10th and 11th, respectively, in the final competition.

In the preliminary round, Vincent finished first with a score of 335.50, and she improved significantly in the finals for a score of 366.10. Her second-place finish in the 3-meter marks her second podium finish of the competition after finishing third in the 1-meter in the first day of competition.

Goh and Lujan took ninth and 11th, respectively, in the 3-meter preliminaries to move on to the finals. Goh earned her best score of the day in the preliminary round with a 300.40. Lujan also earned a slightly higher preliminary score with a 284.20.

Karlee Price and Grant Summers also competed in preliminary events today. Price finished 19th in the women’s three meter with 265.25, while Summers placed 15th in the men’s 1-meter with a score of 287.15.

The Gamecocks will wrap up competition at the Tennessee Diving Invitational on Friday as Allyson Nied and Mikaela Lujan compete on women’s platform and Grant Summers competes on men’s platform. Follow the Gamecocks on their official Twitter, @GamecockSwim, for updates during the meet.
