Go Claims 2019 Philippine Amateur Open Title

CAVITE, Philippines – South Carolina junior golfer Lois Kaye Go claimed the championship at the 2019 Philippine Amateur Open, holding off the impressive field in the 72-hole event this weekend.

Go posted a four-round total of 286 at the Riviera Golf Country Club to finish the tournament at one-over. The Cebu City, Philippines, native opened the event with an even-par 71 and a three-over second round before firing off a one-under 70 in the third to take the lead into the final day. Go used two clutch par putts in the last two holes to close the tournament on a 70 for a one-shot victory.

In 2018, Go finished in a tie for third at the same event, posting a four-round total of 294 on the same course.

In the Gamecocks’ fall season, Go finished with back-to-back top-five finishes, aiding in the Gamecocks’ runner-up showing at the Landfall Tradition. She posted her best fall score of 212 at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational, which included a second-round 69. Go’s experience on the international level has been impressive, as she gathered a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games as a part of the Philippines team.

No. 17 South Carolina opens its spring slate next month at the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, La. The three-day event, which is in its ninth year, is a 54-hole tournament held at English Turn Feb. 17-19.
