No. 20 Gamecocks Tied for Lead at Bulls Bay

All four counting scores posted red numbers for South Carolina on Monday

AWENDAW, S.C. — No. 20 South Carolina is tied for the lead with Missouri after opening the 2019 Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate with a first round 279 (-9). Juniors Caleb Proveaux and Jamie Wilson are T-5th after each carding 3-under, 69s this afternoon.
 
Seniors Ryan Stachler and Scott Stevens each posted red numbers as well. Stachler is T-14th after shooting 70 (-2) and Stevens is T-22nd after posting a 1-under, 71.
 
The Gamecocks, who were paired with Ole Miss and Kent State, led the field the first 18 holes with 21 birdies. Wilson led the team with six red numbers (T-3rd in the field) and Proveaux and Stachler each had five (T-7th in the field).
 
Senior Will Miles is T-40th after shooting 73 (+1) in round one.
 
Kent State (3rd, -8) and Kansas (4th, -6) are giving chase to Carolina and the Tigers at the top of the leaderboard. Six other teams shot under par on Sunday at Bulls Bay Golf Club. There’s a three-way tie for the individual lead at 5-under par after 18 holes of play.
 
Miles will lead things off for the Gamecocks at 9:45 a.m. ET on hole one in Tuesday’s second round.
