The Gamecocks went 2-2 on the week, defeating North Carolina in Charlotte and beating Texas A&M Saturday.

COLUMBIA –The University of South Carolina baseball team went 2-2 on the week, defeating No. 17 North Carolina in Charlotte before going 1-2 against Texas A&M at home, highlighted by a 3-2 win in Saturday’s doubleheader opener.

NOTES:
The Gamecocks held North Carolina to just four hits while Andrew Eyster and TJ Hopkins both homered in Carolina’s 5-2 win over the Tar Heels on Tuesday night. The win snapped a three-game losing streak to UNC in Charlotte while improving to 2-0 on the season in games at BB&T Ballpark. The Gamecocks beat N.C. State, 10-8, in Charlotte on April 2 on Jacob Olson’s walk-off home run.

Dylan Harley had two great performances on the week in games against North Carolina and Texas A&M. Harley picked up the win on Tuesday against North Carolina, striking out six while allowing just one hit in 3.1 innings of work. Harley then had three strikeouts in two innings of relief in the series finale against the Aggies. Harley has 41 strikeouts in 31.1 innings of work this season.

Luke Berryhill’s three-run home run in the first inning was the difference in Carolina’s 3-2 win over Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon. Noah Campbell and George Callil both were hit by pitches to start the bottom of the first. They both trotted home on Berryhill’s ninth home run of the year, an opposite field shot to the Carolina bullpen.

Brett Kerry earned a pair of saves for Carolina this past week. He came in and recorded the final two outs in the North Carolina win on Tuesday, getting Michael Busch to strike out to end the contest. Kerry then pitched three innings of relief, striking out four and allowing just one hit in the 3-2 win over Texas A&M on Saturday. On the year, Kerry is 3-1 with five saves and a 2.11 ERA.

Carolina travels to SRP Park in North Augusta, S.C., for the first time in school history on Tuesday night, facing Charleston Southern at 7 p.m. The Gamecocks then travel to Columbia, Mo., to face Missouri in a three-game set starting Friday night.
