Softball Schedule For Clearwater Tournament Announced

Carolina to play five games against top teams from around the country

CLEARWATER, Fla. —- South Carolina softball’s schedule for the 2020 St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational at the Eddie C. Moore Complex was released Wednesday, tournament directors announced. The sixteen-team tournament will take place February 13-16 with the Gamecocks set to play five games. 
Carolina will face off against Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Washington and James Madison. Four of the five (Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Washington and James Madison) reached the postseason in 2019 while two (James Madison and Washington) reached a Super Regional. The Huskies later went on to reach the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City. 
The Gamecocks will start against the Red Raiders at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13. Carolina returns to action for two games on Friday, Feb. 14, starting with the Hokies at 10:00 a.m. before finishing the day at 6:00 p.m. against Kansas. 
South Carolina closes the tournament against Washington on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2:00 p.m. and a face off with James Madison on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 12:30 p.m. 
Tickets for the event will go on sale in mid-October. Fans wishing to purchase tickets for the event can find them with the link at the top of the story.  
Network and field assignments, as well as home and away designations for the thirty-nine-game tournament, will be released at a later date. 
South Carolina will enter into the year coming off a 38-19 season in which it advanced to its fourth-straight regional final under Smith and the program’s seventh-consecutive postseason berth to set a new record for consecutive years in regional action.
