Gamecocks Wrap Up ITA All-American
TULSA, Okla. – The South Carolina women’s tennis team wrapped up play after a solid week of competition at the ITA Women’s All-American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa.
Highlighting the week for the Gamecocks, No. 125-ranked Megan Davies winning three-straight matches in Pre-Qualifying. Davies’ sweep meant she moved on to the next round of play, landing a spot in the Qualifying Draw. In the first round, Davies took on No. 69 Meg Kowalski of Georgia. Their match lasted nearly four hours with the Bulldog coming out on top, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6).
No. 49-ranked Mia Horvit started out in the Main Draw, seeing No. 7-seeded and No. 9-ranked Jada Hart from UCLA. Hart won the match, 7-5, 6-2, sending Horvit to the Consolation Draw. Horvit earned two wins over a pair of top-45 opponents before being knocked out in the third round.
Up next, the Gamecocks will prep for the ITA Carolina Region Championships, running from Thursday, Oct. 24th to Monday, Oct. 28th at Wake Forest in Winston Salem, N.C.
