Wilson Paces Gamecocks in Second Round at Isleworth

WINDERMERE, Fla. — South Carolina was unable to make a move up the leaderboard in round two of the 2019 Tavistock Collegiate Invitational on Monday. The Gamecocks shot 292 (+4) to remain in 14^th place.
 
“It’s been a frustrating couple of days,” said head coach Bill McDonald. “We’ve not been sharp as a group and the golf course is kicking our tails. I felt like we were ready to play today, but we continued to make silly mistakes and this golf course is too demanding to play like that. Tomorrow the final round is about pride and trying to get better.”
 
Senior Jamie Wilson paced Carolina with an even par 72. He shot 36 (E) on the front nine and the back. The Mount Pleasant, S.C., native, led the team with six birdies in the second round. He posted four straight red numbers on holes 14 through 17 to get to 2-under but was hurt by a double bogey at the par-4 18^th hole.
 
Sophomore Ryan Hall and junior Jack Parrott each carded the same score for the second consecutive round, both shooting 73 (+1). Hall started the day with a birdie at hole 10 and remained at 1-under the next 11 holes before back-to-back bogeys at holes four and five. The Knoxville, Tenn., native got it back to even par with a birdie at the par-5 seventh, but he made bogey on the next hole. Parrott had three birdies on the day, shooting 37 (+1) on his front nine and 36 (E) coming in. He and Hall are T-34^th at 3-over for the tournament.
 
Senior Caleb Proveaux was the final counting score with a 74 (+2). He had two birdies in his first three holes but did not card a red number the rest of the way. Freshman Jack Wall made one birdie and posted a 4-over round of 76.
 
The Gamecocks will begin the final round on the back side of the course again paired with West Virginia and Minnesota. Wall will lead things off at 9:15 a.m. ET.
