Four Gamecocks Named All-Region for Fifth-Straight Season

Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina women’s soccer had five named to the All-Southeast Region Team by the United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced Monday. Seniors Grace Fisk and Mikayla Krzeczowski were named to the First Team along with junior Anna Patten. Lauren Chang was named to the Second Team. The Gamecocks have had at least four named to the All-Region teams for five-straight seasons.

Fisk has now been named to the First Team for three-straight seasons. The Bromley, London, native is going down as one of the most accomplished defenders in program history. Fisk is the only player in SEC women’s soccer history to win three career major defensive awards. Fisk was the anchor of the Carolina defense that set a program record for goals against average at 0.32 and shutouts at 17.

Just behind Fisk was Krzeczowski in goal, the senior goalkeeper exits South Carolina with nearly every single goalkeeper record in program history. Her 16 individual shutouts was the best in the country and her 0.33 goals against average this season was fifth-best in Division I. She also ended the season second in the country in total minutes played in goal at 2180:33. Krzeczowski is one of just three goalkeepers in Division I women’s soccer to reach 50 career shutouts and is one of just five all-time (men’s and women’s).

Patten’s first season with the Garnet and Black was a successful one. The junior from Harppenden, England was a force on the back line helping post the 17 shutouts and the incredible 0.32 goals against average. Patten also contributed three goals and one assist during the season and won two SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors on her way to an All-SEC Second Team appearance.

Chang’s appearance on the All-Region squad was no surprise, the junior midfielder finished with at least five goals for the second-straight season. She added a career high six assists in 2019 to finish second on the team with 16 points. Chang’s three game-winning goals was second on the team and her 40 shots and 19 on goal was all second on the team. Chang’s 15 career goals will be the most returning in 2020 for South Carolina.
