Three Gamecocks Named to All-SEC Teams

COLUMBIA, S.C—Three members of the South Carolina swimming and diving program were named to the All-SEC teams Tuesday. Senior Itay Goldfaden led the way, gracing the first team after winning the 100 breaststroke title at the 2020 SEC Championship meet earlier this spring. Sophomore Lewis Burras earned second-team recognition after finishing third in the 50 freestyle, and freshman Taylor Steele was named to the All-Freshman team after reaching the A-final of the 100 breaststroke in her first championship meet.

This marks the sixth straight year a Gamecock has been named to one of the three teams.

For the All-SEC Teams, the first team consists of the top finisher in each event at the SEC Championships, and the second team consists of the second- and third-place finishers in each event. The All-Freshman Teams consist of any redshirt or true freshman who finished either in the top eight or is the highest scoring freshman of each event at the SEC Championships, excluding relay events.

Quotable Head Coach McGee Moody
“I am very proud of our athletes for earning this honor. Itay finished an outstanding career with two SEC Championships and caps it off with first team All-SEC. Lewis Burras and Taylor Steele are beginning their South Carolina careers and to receive this honor is another steppingstone towards even bigger goals. I can’t wait to see what they will do next.
