27 Gamecocks Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America

COLUMBIA, S.C. – For the fifth-consecutive season, more than 20 members of the South Carolina men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams earned Scholar All-America status from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Eight Gamecocks pulled in first-team honors with 19 receiving honorable mention status.
The CSCAA bestows first-team recognition on student-athletes who achieve a GPA of 3.50 or higher and competed at their NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Student-Athletes who are honorable mention recorded the same GPA requirement and achieved a “B” time standard or competed at the NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier.
Seven of the Gamecock selections have earned Scholar All-America status every year of their careers, including seniors Emily Cornell, Albury Higgs and Kevin Liu. Junior AJ Ross and sophomores Anton Down-Jenkins, Ben Fenwick and Mari Kraus are also in the group. Five other Gamecocks received the honor for at least the second time in their careers, leaving 15 first-time selections – a group that includes six freshmen.
