Emma BarksdaleDC Trident), TomPeribonio (Cali Condors) and Brandon Almeida (NY Breakers) all competing for respective clubs in Hungary

BUDAPEST, Hungary — Three former South Carolina swimmers will be competing in the International Swimming League for the next month overseas from Oct. 16-Nov. 25. Emma Barksdale (DC Trident), Tom Peribonio (Cali Condors) and Brandon Almeida (NY Breakers) will all be swimming for their respective clubs.

Barksdale was a six-time All-American and an All-SEC performer during her time in Garnet and Black from 2015-19. She owns six of the fastest times in school history and was also part of four relay teams with the fastest times ever at Carolina.

Peribonio finished his career an 11-time All-American, competing from 2014-18. He’s the school record holder in the 200 IM. Almedia, a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, swam one season for Carolina in 2017-18. He only competed in three events, but was a First Team All-American after taking fourth in the 400 IM at the 2018 NCAA Championships.

The ISL, which is the first major professional swim league, is entering its second season. The 2020 ISL season is the only major competition to feature the world’s best swimmers
prior to the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. The league consists of 10 global clubs with rosters
that feature the best female and male swimmers on the planet. It features unique team-based contests where “every event is a final.” Ten clubs from around the globe will compete to be crowned 2020 ISL Champion.

CBS Sports Network will be bringing fans live coverage beginning today from 10 a.m. – noon ET. There’s 13 events total on the schedule this season with 52 hours of planned coverage across CBS Sports platforms over the next several weeks. Click here to view a full run down of each day’s coverage.
