Softball Announces Updates On Alex Fulmer And Haley Simpson
Simpson to miss entire 2021 season while Fulmer will miss significant portion
COLUMBIA, S.C. —- South Carolina softball’s Haley Simpson will miss the entire 2021 season while Alex Fulmer will miss a significant portion of the season, head coach Beverly Smith announced today. Simpson is scheduled for surgery later this year to repair a hip injury while Fulmer recently had surgery on her shoulder.
A senior from Little Mountain, S.C., Fulmer has appeared in 89 games throughout her career with a .300 batting average and 32 runs scored. Simpson, a junior from Cumming, Ga., has appeared in 68 games in two years while hitting .301 with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in the outfield.
Fulmer will be with the program through this season and is on pace to graduate this spring with a degree in criminology and criminal justice. She plans to enroll in the police academy following graduation.
