Gamecocks Wrap Up Day One of Men's SECs

South Carolina finished ninth in both the 200 medley and 800 free relays

COLUMBIA, Mo. — South Carolina kicked off the SEC Men’s Swimming Championships on Tuesday night at Mizzou Aquatics Center. The Gamecocks competed in the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay, adding to the team’s point total already accrued from diving last week.
 
The medley team of Guy Gropper, Luke Massey, Jordan Yip Zhu Ern and AJ Ross finished ninth, swimming a time of 1:26.10 which was good for the fourth-fastest time in program history.
 
The free relay team of Tamas Novoszath, Rafael Davila, Chase Allison and Phil Costin also finished ninth with a time of 6:26.35, the ninth-fastest mark in school history.
 
South Carolina currently sits 10th with 90 points after five events.
 
Prelims for the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free begin at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday. Finals for those events and the 200 free relay will be  at 7 p.m. SEC Network+ will stream both sessions with live results available via the MeetMobile App.
