No. 12 Gamecocks Set for Second Chance at Home Opener
COLUMBIA, S.C. – After having its home opener postponed due to weather back on August 19, the 12th ranked University of South Carolina women’s soccer team is ready for a second chance. The Gamecocks are set to open their home schedule when they host Boston College inside Stone Stadium Thursday, September 2, at 7 p.m.

2021 Season Notables
- The Gamecocks moved up four spots in this week’s United Soccer Coaches Poll.
- South Carolina picked up a 2-1 win at NC State Sunday afternoon (Aug. 29).
- Corinna Zullo scored with 45 seconds left in regulation to give the Gamecocks the road victory.
- Eveleen Hahn also scored in the match. She and Zullo have each scored in consecutive matches.
- Lauren Chang recorded an assist on Hahn’s goal against NC State. She has now been credited with an assist in three straight matches.
- The Gamecocks continued their trend of using a deep bench as 21 players earned minutes in the NC State match.
- In three matches this season, South Carolina has used 24, 22, and 21 players, respectively.
- Hahn scored her first career goal in the 70th minute against East Carolina.
- South Carolina was picked by the league’s coaches to finish third in the 2021 SEC regular season. The Gamecocks have not finished a season lower than third in the SEC since 2015.
- Five Gamecocks were named to the SEC Soccer Preseason Watch List – Catherine Barry, Lauren Chang, Samantha Chang, Ryan Gareis, and Jyllissa Harris.
