Baseball Hosts UNC Wilmington Saturday in Fall Scrimmage
The Gamecocks and Seahawks meet at 1 p.m. in a pair of 6-inning contests.
COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team will hold its lone scrimmage against outside competition this Saturday (Oct. 23) as the Gamecocks host UNC Wilmington at Founders Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The two teams will play a pair of 6-inning games on Saturday. The games are free and open to the public, with gates opening at noon. There will be a concession stand open on the first base line and fans are encouraged to park in the Foundation Lot.
This will be the third year the Gamecocks will play a fall scrimmage against outside competition. In 2018 and 2019, Carolina had a home-and-home with both N.C. State and Georgia Tech.
UNC Wilmington was 32-22 overall and 13-8 in the Colonial Athletic Association last season. The Seahawks return Brooks Baldwin, who led the team with a .325 batting average and added 15 home runs in 2021. Hunter Hodges had 52 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched.
